Top Dog-Friendly Parks in the Sutherland Shire

The Sutherland Shire is a paradise for dogs and their owners. With beautiful waterways, expansive green spaces, and a welcoming community, there's no shortage of places to let your furry friend burn off some energy. Here are some of our favorite dog-friendly spots in the Shire to show off that fresh Lush Puppies groom!

1. Greenhills Beach (Cronulla)

If your dog loves the sand and surf, Greenhills Beach is the ultimate destination. It's the only ocean beach in Sydney that allows dogs off-leash. It boasts a long stretch of sand perfect for high-energy dogs who love to run, fetch, and splash in the waves.

Park Details: Dogs are allowed off-leash before 10 AM and after 4 PM daily. Parking can be busy on weekends, so arrive early!

Manuka's Grooming Tip: Because this park has a lot of mulch and dirt areas, dogs with longer coats (like Oodles or Golden Retrievers) can easily pick up burrs and twigs. Give them a quick brush-out before they jump back into your car to prevent these from turning into stubborn mats!

3. Helena Street Dog Park (Kirrawee)

A highly popular local spot in Kirrawee, this spacious reserve offers plenty of room for a game of fetch. It's partially fenced and shaded by large, beautiful trees, making it a great option for warmer Shire days. It's a highly social park where you're bound to meet other local dog lovers and regular Lush Puppies clients!

Park Details: Off-leash at all times. Great community vibe, especially around 5 PM on weekdays.

Manuka's Grooming Tip: The grassy areas here are great, but during the wetter months, it can get a bit muddy. If your dog's paws and underbelly get caked in mud, let it dry first, then brush it out with a slicker brush rather than immediately reaching for the shampoo. Over-washing can strip their natural coat oils!

4. Carina Bay Reserve (Como)

For a scenic, relaxing walk, Carina Bay Reserve offers beautiful views over the Georges River. Dogs are allowed off-leash in designated grassy areas. It's a tranquil spot, perfect for a relaxed afternoon stroll rather than high-energy play, and it's surrounded by gorgeous native bushland.

Park Details: Check local signage for exact off-leash boundaries. Great spot for a picnic with your pup.

5. Silver Beach (Kurnell)

Another fantastic waterfront option! The western end of Silver Beach (between the Bonna Point boat ramp and the third groin) is a designated off-leash dog beach. The water here is much calmer than Greenhills, making it ideal for smaller dogs or those who prefer a gentle paddle over crashing waves.

Park Details: Off-leash 24/7 in the designated zones. Great views of Botany Bay.
